   Oh my god! I just about died of laughter when I read that…since I literally ate Chinese food and went to a movie last night. Are we New York jews so predictable??

   I’m not Christian, but I absolutely celebrate Christmas! We have a tree, bake cookies, put up lights, blast Christmas music, drink egg nog with Brandy, listen for Santa on the rooftop, surround ourselves with family…we just leave church out of it.

   Doesn’t it suck that you’re trying to be PC and you managed to insult anyway? Bummer.

   Bela, I’m an atheist who celebrates Christmas, so I understand where you’re coming from, but if you recognize that Waiter’s post was intended to be considerate, then why the snarkiness at the end of your response?

   I have been living in Philippines for the last 20 years. I visited china last year. I was amazed to view the numerous variety of delicious food like Almond Chicken Almond Cookies, almond Float, i remembered. While eating each individual diner is given his or her own bowl of rice while the accompanying dishes are served in communal plates (or bowls) that are shared by everyone sitting at the table. In the Chinese meal, each diner picks food out of the communal plates on a bite-by-bite basis with their chopsticks.

    You are such a tool klg19. If you had an education you might know that the celebration of “Christmas” (which isn’t on Christ’s birthday) actually drew itself from the Winter Solace that pagan’s celebrated. It was a celebration for change of the seasons. You don’t really think a “Christmas” tree hearkens back to Jesus Christ do you? LMAO. Christmas trees, Stockings, gifts- these are all things borrowed from Winter Solace they are not “Christian”. Celebrating Christmas without church isn’t sad, it’s the way people have been celebrating that holiday since before CHRISTIANS existed. Christians don’t have the “corner market” on Christmas, you can celebrate it without being religious. You celebrate how it works for you, but making comments about how “sad” other people are because they don’t share your beliefs certainly doesn’t encourage them to want to see your POV, it just makes you look like a jerk.

    Go take a damned history class or actually read your bible instead of just believing everything your minister tells you.

    @April: I think that’s what he’s getting at. celebrating Christmas-the-church-holiday bp going to church. Doing the other stuff is celebrating Christmas-the-commercial-holiday or (very rarely) the pagan solstice roots. It’s like Easter. The eggs/bunny/candy isn’t part of the Christian holiday, but it is still a (usually secular) celebration. Perhaps I’m wrong. I dont think Bela was nice about it, but that’s no reason to call names. Have a good day, everyone. I enjoy religious and non-religious aspects of many holidays.
