I’d like to thank the good folks at Editora Nova Fronteira of Rio de Janeiro for agreeing to publish my book in Brazil. Waiter Rant is going to be translated into Portuguese! How cool is that? Muito obrigado!
My apologies for not posting in a while. I’m going to Dallas for a few days next week. I’ll try posting a story while I’m there!
Thanks again Nova Fronteira!
Parabéns!
Come to Austin!
I just might! 🙂
Ha! This is great…I was planning to buy your book anyhow, but I’m currently learning Portuguese, and it’s so hard to find untranslated literature. Now I have the double pleasure of reading the book and practicing my new language.
Enjoy your trip!
Dallas is hotter than a griddle top this time of year. Dress cool and drink plenty of water. When are you coming to Albuquerque? 🙂
Waiter Rant is going international! Nice. 🙂
sounds like somebody quit his job again
Dallas rocks – enjoy!
screw Dallas visit the fun part of DFW-Fort Worth
Come to Fredericksburg in the beautiful Texas Hill Country! We have friendly folks, great food and locally produced beer and wine. Willkomen, y’all!
I live in Dallas! It’s not too hot (I mean once it breaks 90 it’s just plain hot no matter what) – you’re going to have a great time! Let me know where you adventure to while you’re here!
Is there even a point coming to this site anymore?
Hey, parabéns Waiter!
Yeah, it does sound like someone told the manager to stuff it.
Probably FIRED with his recent attitude.
it’s ironic, the blog that made the waiter who he is now, and it’s the dumping ground for his marketing and ad sales. Oh well, time to move on to a new blog.
Hey, that’s great. I wonder if anything will get lost in translation, though.
You should come whack some sense into the managers i work with. It would be great. (I live in Dallas)
😀
Have fun in dallas!
Sounds great!
I live in Dallas too. I’m a server at McCormick & Schmick’s. Are you here promoting your book? If so where?
thank you Mr. Waiter, I too, am a “waitress” and had the normal Sat night from hell. I am thinking of writing a book, I have been told everynight (this week!) but i live near Malibu so if you speak i am blaclisted , oh dear, a vacation! (yippee),I had someone tonite take longer to order dessert than i had when i bought my car…c”mon!….
You should try Poppadeaux’s while you’re here, the best cajun food from a restaurant!
I, too, miss the frequent posts, BUT if you were able to get outta Dodge without any financial worries I don’t blame you for one second. I’d wager that 98% of people in foodservice would zip away faster than the Roadrunner if they had the opportunity.
Looking forward to the book.
# 7… LMAO!!!
Ft Worth is a really nice town/city. I enjoyed my (short) stay there, and even got myself a nice Stetson from Leddy’s. Oh yes, the food there is sooooo gooood!
A *vacation*? But – what will we do with ourselves? I’m booooorrreddd! OH well, have a good time; don’t give us poor, neglected and needy readers another thought, mkay? We’ll be -sigh – fine.
Hey, you should get another waiter to rant on the site if your too busy. I really like this site but need a little more than book promotions. Think about it please.
I second Lara’s suggestion- come to Austin! We have good restaurants, people are pretty relaxed, and if all else fails you can go to a bar, listen to some great music and drink.
I wonder if the Café Machiavelli actually exists, or whether Waiter has been leading us on, while sitting home collecting unenployment (or “sitting on his hind end and drawing” as we say in the South).
Waiter have a great trip e parabéns! If you never write another word here, thank you.
I agree with Diego and I would still like to read anything you feel like writing.
what haters people are. instead of being happy and congratulatory towards you Waiter…they only think of themselves and how the lack of this blog will affect them. 1. get over it people!, 2. get conscious and realize that the realization of dreams or higher aspirations at least are preferrable to attempting to appease such a fair-weather, venemous, quick to turn audience who is NOT paying, NOR offering any type of book deal…in English OR any other other language!
Stop being so jealous. Now, waiter….a post once a week shouldn’t be too hard, right? perhaps we readers are not appreciative of the effort and time it takes to write those lines and compose the stories? either way- as you can see, most want more!
I’d bet that a few of those posts were the same person.
That said, have fun!
Everyone needs a vacation here and there.
post something besides book crap!
Oh grow up people! Would you like some cheese with your whine?
Waiter-enjoy your vacation.
Wow, nice going Waiter! The book is looks so good, it deserves to be translated into as many languages as possible.
Long live the little people!
Time to promote the book around the states and around the world…
See you when you’re in Vegas!
Great news. I’ll still be reading it in English. 🙂
Seriously people – we don’t own him! Give the Waiter a break – he sure as hell deserves one! And even if he didn’t deserve one, how is it our business? We’ve been lucky enough to be allowed into his life via this blog and that’s been a privilege. It’s NOT a right. Loving everything you do Waiter! x
congrats! I’ve been reading your blog here from Brazil for a long time, and I must say it’s fantastic! keep up the good work!
Congrats on your book. While I’m happy for you that you are having some success, don’t’ forget how you got here…by blogging funny stories about being a waiter.
You’ve hardly posted anything about your job in the last couple/few months. The few posts you do add, are about your book. I’m getting ready to take you out of my bookmarks.
I hope you start posting your stories again. They were really good.
Take care!
A Busman’s Holiday?
Advanced Copy Reader and Drangle? You two are serious haters. You should unplug yourselves from the internet and lget some lives.
Normally I don’t censor comments, but I tire of the pediatric prattling from the likes of those two. Fuck em.
Just being honest here Waiter, I really like your blog, I’m considering buying your book, but I do agree that it would probably be even better publicity for you to post interesting things on your site in the month before you release. I’m just tiring of checking every day and having it be the same, or if I do check and it’s different it’s just an ad for either your book or another…
Take it as constructive criticism to keep your audience
Congratulations, on your book and on going international too!
Hey, to all of you whiners that complain about coming to the site everyday to check for new posts…catch a clue and sign up for the RSS feed. You can look at all of the blogs that you read everyday and it will tell you when there are new posts; you don’t have to check everyday. I use Google Reader and it’s free. C’mon people…catch up…
You censored my comment about censoring? What the fuck, dude? I like the site fine; I’ve not been disrespectful. I just said I wonder how far censorship is going to go if you “normally don’t censor comments” but make an exception for people you dislike.
Lovely melodic language, at least spoken by Brazilians anyway.
Que noticias bem bacana!!! I’ve been reading this site for years, I live in Rio, and I think this book will be very well received. You should come to Rio for a book signing! 🙂
I like that you separate fate from destiny. There is something to be said for trying to account for the idea that we can sometimes fail to fulfill our destiny.
