  1. Dang – I am halfway through the hardcover edition (and enjoying it). :)

Are you talking to any ski instructors/sport instructors for the tips book? Esp. Canadian ones where tipping for this kind of service isn’t so prevalent (but instructors still make minimum).

  2. Congrats! That should be good :)

5 seconds of nit-picking, though: it’s afterWORD. You know, just like foreword, except it’s after the main body.

  3. Good luck with those interviews. I did the morning radio broadcast route in 2002, about 19 stations in four hours, starting at 5AM CDT. I started drinking at 4AM I was so tense. I was completely pissed by 9AM. Ha. My way to deal with the stress of ALL those questions!

Good, good luck. You are funny as hell.

  4. Huh? But I just bought the paperback version a few days ago, which had been in the bookstore for months! It has a different cover art though…

Ah what the heck. I’ll just enjoy the book :D

  5. I just got your book today and have been reading it. When I got to the part where you mentioned Claude, the homeless dude, I figured out where you’re writing from. Ahh, I used to work at that Starbucks years ago and Claude has been a fixture for years. Good luck!

  6. I just finished the chapter on tipping. My husband, the 12-15% tipper, doesn’t know it but for years I’ve always added the rest to the table after he walks away.He doesn’t know what being a waiter is like. He really thinks they make at least min wage. I always tell him about being a waitress in a truck stop when I was 16 and how I quit in tears after 3 days…

Enjoying the book very much. Great writing. Easy reading.

  7. Wonderful book, Steve! Congratulations…and, yes, you ARE a good writer. Best of luck in the future.
PS: I work at Barnes & Noble and I will be hand-selling this book for the next few weeks!

  8. Picked the book up as an impulse buy in a small bookstore in O’Hare airport. It almost made me forget that I missed my flight! Great read so far, look forward to any future books.

PS: I overtipped my taxi driver later in the day, your stories of lame tippers made me sad.
