I like your ‘turn of mind’, in particular ‘compassion is often the handmaiden of compassion’. Is that ‘human’ ignorance, or ignorance? ‘Ignorance’, I have been inclined to think, is the handmaiden of cruelty, self-abnegation, oblivion.
