Thanks Amazon! — 68 Comments

  1. I just knew they would have some book about being, going, doing, breathing “green”. I’m exhausted already. I can’t wait for your book!

  2. Woohoo!! I’m glad because I really enjoy your writing style. It’s like sitting down with a good friend. Those authors are rare. Congrats!

  3. Congratulations sir.

Take it that the inner jacket will have a pixelated photo of the author then ( tease that you are )

  4. Anthony Bordain blurb, Amazon summer reading pick: the only way this book fails is if it’s a dog of a read. And your loyal readers know that that’s not happening.

Now if Oprah calls, that’d just about take care of your retirement….. :-).

Seriously, if this thing takes off it’s going to open a lot of doors. I suggest that you open one of them and step through, even though there’ll be no guarantees and maybe no going back. You sound like you’re ready, more than ready, for the next phase of your life.

  5. I work for a very small book distributor and I am trying desperatly to get them to stock this book. So far no go…but this should help a lot.

  6. The book is not a collection of blogs, but rather longer stories that tell both about the author’s personal challenges and successes, and also about working as a waiter in general. There are chapters about the restaurants he’s worked in, the people he has worked with, and the patrons he has served. It also covers topics such as tipping, the relationships between the kitchen and the front of the house, etc.

  7. I am thrilled for you! I have been reading your blogs for over a year now & am so happy for you! I will purchase a copy at the soonest opportunity.

  8. Waiter, you have no idea how excited I am to read your book. It’s just too bad I’ll be out of the country when it comes out. But I’ll definitely buy it as soon as I can.

  9. I have spent the last several weeks staying sane by reading your blog. I am home visiting the family and waiter rant has been a life saver. I am now slightly depressed that I have reached the most recent entry. I will most definitely be picking up your book. :)

  10. As soon as I get my pre-ordered copy in the mail I am going to review it for the school newspaper. I might hero-worship you a little, though.

  11. Super! That’s really great news, Waiter! If Oprah picks you for her book of the month, you’re set for life!

I will probably break my own personal rule and buy a hardback, just for you Waiter!

  12. Waiter,
I am so excited for you. I always look forward to your posts and I’m so looking forward to the day Amazon finally delivers my copy. Everytime I log into my account, there is sits, in all its pre-ordered glory – taunting me. But I’ll survive. :>

  13. Congratulations. It seems that you have a happy dilema. When the book takes off you should have enough money to quit being a waiter, however, they will probably want another book. That means you’ll need to continue being a waiter in order to gather material and maintain this site (which I really like BTW) or focus on another subject. Either way, I wish you the best.

  14. Waiter, Congrats!!! I’ve pre-ordered mine (with Amazon) should be here in a 6 weeks or so and I’ve added your book to my reading list on facebook.

JMG – i don’t necessarily agree with you, Waiter left Brasserie and was still posting incredibly observational blogs for quite some time, so maybe the next book will be about what it’s like to be a customer when you have an extensive restaurant experience.

  15. That is probably because so many people pre-ordered it :) I will be in the US in September and was planning on buying it than. But I can’t wait and have pre-ordered it a couple of weeks ago.
    Greetings from the Netherlands!

  16. hey waiter.
am a big fan although this is my first post.. started reading your blog recently and have read all your entries :)
    love your writing.
looking forward to reading the book

  17. Just pre-ordered my copy today! Lousy super-saver shipping is pushing back the CDs I also ordered until your book comes out but I’ve gotta save every dime for tipping so I don’t get beheaded.

  18. I put it in my shopping basket at as soon as i found your site up after the move…

I am glad things are working out for you!

  19. Congratulations on your new book! I can’t wait till it’s published.

I have to say, I truly enjoy reading this blog… in fact I’ve gone through your archives multiple times and am gearing myself up for another round… I am an unashamed fan of your writing.

Good luck with everything, by the way! ;)
